What is Healing Touch?

Healing Touch is an energy-based therapeutic approach to health and healing.

It is a philosophy and a sacred healing art, which can easily be integrated with other forms of healthcare to facilitate healing and quality of life.

Healing Touch Practitioners use their hands to clear, energise and balance energy fields, affecting physical, mental, emotional health and healing in a positive way.

Their techniques are based on the belief that all people have the capacity to heal through compassionate intent and that Healing Touch can be integrated into many other forms of health care.

Healing Touch methods are effective and portable and can be used in any setting including hospitals, private clinics, aged care, schools and at home.

Healing Touch is safe for all ages - with animals and plants also being very receptive – and is complementary to mainstream medical care.

Becoming a Practitioner is a rewarding experience on so many levels. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded others and make new friends in a safe, nurturing and learning environment.

Value of complementary therapies to cancer patients

In 2022 Australian designer and TV presenter Barry Dubois, alongside Dr Judith Lacey, presented a white paper to Parliament House that seeks to start a national conversation on the importance of integrative oncology.

Healing Touch is one of the valued complementary therapies offered to cancer patients and their families at Solaris Cancer Care. Barry Du Bois openly shared his cancer journey and how complementary therapies worked for him on the Studio 10 (TV) program.

“Watching this made me really proud to be a part of this organisation, and I think it’s nice for us to be reminded of the amazing work we do, and the difference we make in people’s lives,” said Healing Touch Practitioner, Instructor and Program Director, Dr Rosalie Van Aken.

Comments on the benefits of Healing Touch

"I find the HT techniques to be gentle, effective, and non invasive. These treatments target the underlying source(s) of un-wellness, and as such I have derived great benefit from them. "

Catherine, Port Macquarie

"I leave a Healing Touch session feeling more grounded, relaxed and calmer than before I climbed onto the table. Susi's an intuitive, caring and kind soul whose energy work and gentle hands-on practice is a restorative balm for the body, mind and spirit."

What Happens During a Healing Touch session?

Before your first Healing Touch session there is a consultation during which the Practitioner will ask a series of questions to help understand you better. This is also an opportunity to answer any questions you may have about Healing Touch.

Depending on your circumstance, you will then be seated on a chair or lying on a massage table, fully clothed. The Practitioner will assess your energy system using a pendulum and their hands. Working with the intention of providing an outcome for your highest good, the Practitioner gently places their hands above or on your body. A session is generally 40 to 60 minutes.

A heart-centred caring relationship is formed between the Practitioner and the client, where they come together energetically to facilitate health and healing.

Most recipients of Healing Touch express a feeling of deep relaxation and a sense of peace during and after a session. Being in such a state of deep relaxation enables a restorative flow of energy to connect at a cellular level creating greater harmony and the ability to ‘let go’. Commonly there is a cumulative effect of using Healing Touch, therefore regular sessions are recommended.

We invite you to watch a video of Healing Touch Instructor, Susan Ashton, as she and her colleagues share their experiences, and demonstrate how Healing Touch can complement mainstream healthcare.
