Gathering 2008 will take place at Angourie,
from Friday, October 31st to Sunday, November 2nd at the Angourie
Rainforest Resort. The gathering will be followed by a Level
5 course from Monday, November 3rd to Wednesday, November
5th, 2008. Please pencil in these dates in your calendar and
begin to send loving intentions for the success of this venture.
Angourie - pronounced "Angowrie". The Angourie
Rainforest Resort itself has a marvelous "feel" to it. The
staff is very friendly and helpful and the accommodation is
very well appointed and very, very spacious, actually if you
can afford the time and the money an extra day before or after
the Gathering would be well worth while. On site there is
also a restaurant, a spa, a gym, swimming pools, tennis court,
rainforest walk and an atmosphere of peace and rainforest
tranquility.
Two minutes down the road by car (although
there is a bike path and bikes are available for hire at the
Resort) there is the little "village" of Angourie. Here there
is a Corner Store with very, very basic supplies but great
gourmet café food. There is also a Restaurant open for 6:30pm,
Frangipani - for massage and beauty treatments, and two boutique/gift
shops - Silk and Sands and Guapoloco with a lot more than
just clothes. Well worth a visit.
The main beach at Angourie has been made
a Surf Reserve this year and this means that no Surfing Competition
can be held there. This is so the natural beauty of the place
is not disturbed. There are a number of beaches and nature
points of interest here including Green Point, Spooky Beach,
Angourie Main Beach, Back Beach, Blue Pool (a deep swimming
hole surrounded by rocks just before you get to the beach
- very interesting) as well as National Park Walks.
Also three minutes away from the Resort is
the village of Wooloweyah which is on the edge of a very,
very large shallow lake and is also surrounded by National
Park. So Angourie Rainforest Resort is surrounded by bushland
but is only two minutes drive to Angourie shops, a three minute
drive to Yamba Shopping Centre and a six minute drive back
to Yamba Fair (with Bilo, Target etc.) Therefore it will be
very easy to self cater breakfasts and dinners (except the
Gathering Dinner which is included) with supplies easily available
from any of the above shopping venues.
