The Australian Foundation for Healing Touch Inc is a non-profit membership and educational organisation established in 1997 to administer and co-ordinate the Healing Touch Programme in Australia.

We are responsible for providing the programme within the required curriculum and for encouraging practitioners to work within the Code of Ethics and International Standards of Practice set by Healing Touch International.

The Foundation is based on the belief that all people have the capacity to heal through compassionate intent and that Healing Touch can be integrated with other forms of health care to ensure quality of life.

Our techniques are based on the belief that all people have the capacity to heal through compassionate intent and that Healing Touch can be integrated into many other forms of health care. It is suitable for individuals of all ages and stages of health and illness. Animals and plants are also very receptive to Healing Touch.

Our goal is to empower people of all ages to activate the innate wisdom of the body to self regulate and heal all aspects of the self.

We provide and facilitate the programme with an emphasis on the support of our membership and ongoing research to better provide the best techniques possible.

T H E   H I S T O R Y   O F  H E A L I N G   T O U C H

The Healing Touch Programme was developed by American practitioner Janet Mentgen (RN, BSN) who had practised energy based care since 1980 in Denver, Colorado.

Janet was honoured as the Holistic Nurse of the Year by the American Holistic Nurses' Association for her work in energy based therapy. She has taught classes in Australia on many occasions.

Healing Touch was first taught in Australia by Mary Jo Bulbrook (RN, Ed.D) and Donna Duff (LPN) in 1993. The program continues to grow and is supported by Certified Healing Touch Practitioners and Instructors throughout Australia.

Healing Touch International Inc (HTI) is a non-profit organisation established to administer the Healing Touch certification process for both practitioners and instructors.

The International Standards of Practice, the Code of Ethics and Research are another foci of Healing Touch International.

There are over 100 successfully completed research projects to date with many more in progress, investigating the most effective techniques for Healing Touch.
